If you’re searching for a unique and unforgettable date night in Orange County, I’ve got the perfect idea for you! ARTime Barro, a trendy and cozy pottery studio in Costa Mesa, is the ideal spot to unleash your creativity while sharing some laughs and making memories together. Whether you’re new to pottery or just looking for something different, this hands-on experience is a fun and romantic way to spend time with your partner—plus, you get to take home something you made together! And why not take a photographer along for a date night photoshoot to capture all those special, candid moments?
I tagged along with Ben & Kelsey for a couples photoshoot and was their third wheel (literally) during their wheel-thrown date night pottery class at ARTime Barro. Instead of a typical photoshoot, this session was all about capturing the experience—hands on the wheel, smiles, and a few clay-covered moments.
At ARTime Barro, you and your partner can enjoy a guided pottery class, learning the art of wheel-thrown or handmade pottery. You get to shape your own pieces, and then decide whether to glaze them yourself or let the studio handle it. It’s an incredibly fun, hands-on experience that makes for the perfect date night.
One of the best parts about a date night couples photoshoot is how natural and genuine the photos turn out. It’s less about posed shots and more about documenting real moments between the two of you. The laughter, the concentration, the playful banter—it all unfolds so authentically when you’re just focused on enjoying your time together.
By letting go and immersing yourselves in the activity, the photos reflect who you really are as a couple, resulting in a more documentary style of photography. These candid, raw moments are what make the experience so special and truly one-of-a-kind. Whether it’s a little clay on your hands or a shared smile, every moment captured feels organic and true to your relationship.
With ARTime Barro being centrally located near several new shops and restaurants off of Randolph Ave within the CAMP, and close to the LAB, it’s a perfect spot to grab food or a drink to continue your date night. After class, you can head to one of these local favorites for food and drinks:
Whether you want to keep things casual or make it a full night out, there’s no shortage of options nearby to complement your creative evening.
Watching Ben and Kelsey work side by side at the pottery wheel was a beautiful reminder of how art can bring people closer. Their easy laughter and connection made it clear that this date night was more than just a class—it was an experience. If you’re feeling inspired and want to capture your love story in a creative setting, I’d love to be your third wheel and document your special moments. Whether it’s a pottery class or another creative adventure, I’m here to help capture your love story in all its fun, messy, and meaningful moments. Get in touch—I can’t wait to create something beautiful with you!
